This year will be my first time participating as a guest in the bi-annual design event ~ the One Room Challenge where 20 featured designers and guest participants transform a space of their choice. I am so excited to be part of the event and can't wait to go through the next 8 weeks of design, décor and DIYs. I am planning to tackle a guest bedroom in my home which also needs to function as my study since my husband has usurped the other room as his. Let me show you the space.
Its a fairly small room where our parents stay when they visit with a small study area on one side. Its a highly used space in our home and could definitely use some love. I want to make it a pretty and functional space for our parents and guests where they can relax and be comfortable. Lets talk furniture placement.
So the main furniture in the room is going to be a bed and a desk. I want to rotate the desk and place it against the empty wall next to the bed. That way we free up some space in the front which will hopefully make the room appear larger. I want to do the room up in blue's with some elements of green scattered here and there. The style I am going for is a medley of modern farmhouse, vintage and English cottage. I will be adding wallpaper, bedding, pictures, lights and greenery to liven and brighten the space.
I will be sharing my mood board and to-do list next week so stay tuned for that! Do checkout my instagram page olive_treeinteriors for more updates. In the meantime please head over to the ORC Blog page and follow the #oneroomchallenge on instagram to see what the featured designers and guest participants are planning for their rooms Thank you ORC for hosting this event and Better Homes & Gardens for being the media partner for the same. What a lovely way to transform a space, feel part of the design community, share inspiration, learn something new and hopefully make some friends along the way.
