As the days become warmer and longer, its time to enjoy the good weather outside. We decided to get our patio ready for the summer. Last year we spent a lot of time pressure washing, staining and sealing the patio floor so a lot of work was already done. We had also bought a patio furniture set that was sitting inside the house during winter. We wanted the patio to be neutral yet colorful.
We started by grounding the space with a rug. We actually layered in two rugs for a more interesting effect. Then out came the furniture. We arranged it in a way that made it easy for conversation. We added enough seating for 8 people so that we wouldn't need to drag out chairs every time we have guests over. We bought these pretty but reasonably priced wicker chairs to add some color and warmth to the space. With the furniture in place, onto the fun stuff - DECORATING!
We decided to go with grey and white stripes for all the cushions. We varied the look and width of stripes for interest and chose cushions in different sizes to keep the space fun. We added color through plants and flowers. To complete the space, we added overhead string lights and placed metal and wicker lanterns on the floor. We added a cart in the corner to serve as a drink station. And that wraps up my 2021 Patio makeover.
