Week 8 is here, it really is and after 8 weeks of design, DIY and décor, its finally time to reveal the room transformation. I still can't believe we actually finished this on time and that we have a completed room to share with you all and guess what, we did all of this at just slightly over $500 thanks to some thrifting and a lot of DIY. So without further ado here it is!!
Before we move any further let me share the "Before" picture one more time to show you just how far we have come from Week 1.
Even though I've been witness to this room gradually changing over the past few weeks I am still amazed at the transformation and I am so happy that it is looking just the way I planned it in my head! Let me walk you through the room now and explain the thought process behind the design.
For the wall treatment, we went for a grain-sack striped wallpaper in blue on the top half of the walls and a fresh white picture frame molding on the lower half and yes we DIY'ed it all! Its a fairly small room and we needed to make it function as both a guest bedroom as well as a study space for myself. The main furniture elements are the metal bed and a desk and chair set. We kept the bedding simple and white, only accented with a few blue pillows and a green throw to break up all the blue's in the room.
We added this cute little window sill garden as the perfect backdrop for the bed ( it even has its own pretty little brass watering can!) We accessorized the desk with a lamp, a few books, and some green branches in a tera cotta pot. As for the walls, we added in a lot of elements to give the eyes some relief from all the stripes. We have a rattan mirror, some DIY charcoal sketch artwork(I love the leather straps that we added to the frame!), a straw hat and my husband's Ukulele up on the wall. Overall the blue's and the woven elements are giving the room a very coastal vibe. We have a blue vintage floral rug on the floor to complete the space.
I really hoped you enjoyed my 8 week journey and liked the room design.
